That last trip up the stairs is the longest of the day*
They drag their feet as if there was an actual guillotine awaiting them up there, rather than a pair of fresh pyjamas, soapy water and toothpaste.

Tonight Mimi even fell victim to a rare (and almost terminally painful) unclassified leg disease at the bottom of the stairs and had to be carried up.

That last climb of the day feels like tackling the north face of K2.
