Butterflies for Christian

A butterfly lights beside us like a sunbeam,
And for a brief moment, its glory and beauty
belong to our world...
But then it flies again, and though we wish it could have stayed...
We feel lucky to have seen it.

Alexandra organised a surprise for Christian's birthday, but because my sister and her husband couldn't make it yesterday, we decided to do it today.

I had no idea what it was, I couldn't begin to guess. I knew it wasn't flowers, as we had already bought those, it wouldn't be a cake, maybe a statue, no it was butterflies.

Five beautiful Monarch butterflies, one for each of us, to release in memory of Christian.

We had some early morning rain, but it turned fine by the time we went to the cemetery, and today felt more of a celebration of his life and not so sad.

We then came home for a nice salad lunch, and a long afternoon chatting and remembering.

I feel better today than yesterday.
