Finding Pretty

The dripping, pitter- pat of February
has become my nemesis.
It is time to force the issue--
today I will go out and drag out pretty
from all that gray.
There has to be glimmers,
some speck of poignant moment
this trying season offers
other than a promise of warm cats by a fire
and an early, buoyant spring.
