Holding Back the Drifts
It's a good thing our front porch has a fence going around it. As you can see, the snow in the yard is so deep it would easily hide the edge if the fence weren't there to mark it.
The curve in the shadow gives you an idea how big the drifts that made it past the fence really are.
We hear that in the "old days" they sometimes had to dig a tunnel to get out to the barn and feed the cows.
I used to think that was a Tall Tale, but now I am not so sure!
