Cracked ceiling

My parents' bathroom ceiling developed a small crack one night last summer. I spent the next day documenting its alarming progression; it stopped at about eight feet. Large slabs of plaster threatened to fall for the last six months or so, until finally, this week, the ceiling was repaired. This is a closeup of a section that is now covered by drywall.
