Maccing about

It's a tradition. Each year at this time I'm glued to the computer, full of excitement about what Steve Jobs is going to announce during his keynote at the MacWorld Expo in San Francisco. This year was no exception. Part of the fun is finding out live what's going on, which these days means relying on web sites which provide live updating from the event. I'd barely posted my blips for Saturday, Sunday and Monday when suddenly it was 5.00 pm and time to drop everything and follow events in San Francisco.

Once that was over it was over to the Apple site and the Apple Store to get up to date with the new products, by which time the video coverage had been uploaded and that had too be watched. Movie rentals in iTunes and software improvements for the iPhone, the iPod Touch and Apple TV didn't excite me at al, but the big announcement of the day was the new MacBook Air. The rumour mongers got much more right than usual when it came to this new product, even down to the name. It's gorgeous, but it's pricey -- very pricey in the case of the Solid State drive -- and I can't see myself buying one. It's good fun to drool, though, and I'm looking forward to seeing one in the flesh in due course.

Now it really is time to get back to some sort of reality. The past few days have been topsy-turvy to say the least. The house needs tidying and cleaning, and there are other day-to-day needs to be attended to. Enough of the distractions!
