Mycological mystery.
My new fitness regime started today (well, actually, it was the old one re-started for the hundredth time!) by walking back from school this morning, via the old railway line that is now a lovely path through the woods.
Had no luck in the hunt for spring flowers but did get a nice surprise when I saw this. I know it's a 'bracket fungus' but I don't know which species. Before my biology course last year, the most I knew about fungi was which ones tasted best in a risotto but now I'm absolutely fascinated by them. This one, though, while a captivating specimen, didn't look particularly appetising!
