Cookies.
I spent five hours in the kitchen today - and I say that happily, by the way. Cooking is one of the greatest pleasures in my life.
The most taxing thing I cooked was a meatball tagine with tomato and cumin sauce over rice. If you haven't yet discovered the joys of Moroccan cooking and tagines, I cannot recommend them highly enough. The flavours you end up playing with are magnificent.
I then made a Greek halva dessert, and finally, I made the above - Earl Gray and orange zest cookies. I don't really 'bake', but I was really pleased with how these turned out. The cookies are wonderful because they're not too sweet, and the flavours reveal themselves separately - first you hit the doughy biscuit, and then the bergamot of the earl gray, and finally the punch of the orange.
So yes, I enjoyed myself thoroughly. I know this isn't the greatest picture, but I'm trying not to use my macro setting. And the weather was disgusting today... I had to use indoor lighting. Alas, no matter!
