Night Walks

This photo looks towards the Fornet from the road to the Ponte St Charles. At night the valley slopes are luminescent with moonglow, starlight and light pollution from the villages (there's a very annoying spotlight, from a disco, that sweeps across the valley). But up at the bridge the sky is dark and the stars are vivid; it's a great place for star gazing. The only sounds are the wind blowing through the valley, the Isere as it emerges from the gorge, and your heartbeat as you imagine a Yeti jumping out from behind a rock and biting your head clean off.

It was 17 degrees at 1000m today. The snow is dropping off the mountain. The summer paths on the south facing slopes above the town are now becoming very exposed, so bring your hiking shoes if you are visiting this week.
