Grey and waiting for spring

Farms in winter always seem to have a sense of waiting about them.

The main produce around here is corn. So from June(ish) through to September(ish) we get corn from the farm shops that has been picked a few hours before.

The summer has many fruit picking farms open and you can go and get peaches straight from the tree to make peach pie, but get there too late in the season and all you will find are fallen peaches and thousands of wasps.

After peaches its apple picking season and there is cider donuts and fresh cider at the cider press. (cider in the US is of the non-alcoholic type)

Then come fall the corn fields get turned into corn mazes and people come to pick their own pumpkins.

After Halloween they all shut up shop and wait for spring again.
