OK, sightseeing/coffee
The ride to work was super!
I live in a culturally diverse area, it's a bit cheap and some might say dodgey, but there is so much happening, so many stories and so much understanding, I simply love it. The rideto work takes me through several areas of Berlin, from east to west. After leaving my 'Turkish' neighbourhood I hit the trendy arty wealthier area where the streets seem clean(er) and the art seems organised; this is followed by a short distance of modern commercial buildings with interesting architectural designs and probably less interesting things happening in them. I cross a canal into the red light area, during the day seems nice enough with many old worn buildings but in the night feels just a bit sad, and finally I get to the lights and glitter of the west and it's shopping scene....of course there are roadworks everywhere here and it's difficult to get a good look at what's around when I'm struggling with holes in the roads, increased traffic, more traffic lights, more people and so many advertisements and flashing lights. It feels like a different world from the one I started out in. It must be only a 5km ride, but each area is so distinct.
Anyway, I arrived very early to work so stopped and treated myself to coffee and a spot of people watching, I think this pig-tailed girl was doing the same:-)
