TINY AND EARLY
Am staying around the old homestead again today. These are miniature daffodils which have planted themselves in a large tub and are thriving along the rim. They are very mini, 15 cm, 6 inches tall. The trumpets are 2 cm full length, 3/4 inches.
They're here because professional packers pack everything, even candle stubs and cigarette ends left in ashtrays. Somehow a little pot of wizened and dried daffodil bulbs made their way here. (So did candle stubs and ciggie ends.) They were a gift from Wales, originally. I didn't think they would grow but I stuck them in the ground around the little statue of the Fallen Madonna. They grew and multiplied.
Quite soon blip journals will be awash with a host of dancing daffodils -- apologies to Wordsworth -- as a matter of fact, these tiny ones were dancing in a stiff breeze, and it was difficult to get a decent shot. They do light up the dreary days.
For the record: Winter has returned. Dark, windy and cloudy. +9 C. Sunrise: 7:23; Sunset 5:42. Wood is being chopped and stacked.
