Another sign of the times

The closure of two of Waterstone's Dublin outlets came very suddenly. It seemed that no sooner was the announcement made than the doors closed.

In my ignorance, I didn't realise until I read the news reports that both Waterstone's and Hodges Figgis, directly across the road, are owned by the same outfit (HMV, I think). Whatever about the two shops being part of the same stable, they still had quite different atmospheres, and I generally tended to prefer the feel of Waterstone's. It'll certainly be missed. It had become part of parcel of the Dublin steetscape, and things won't be the samne without it.

The next question, of course is: what will become of the building?
