Looking at things differently
Went in search for my Bald Eagle today, once again he eluded me. Instead I stopped at the Ute Indian Reservation cemetery. I live within the borders of the reservation and have learned much about their legends.
This particular cemetery has quite a few legends and stories associated with. The Legend of the Skin Walker is one of those legends. It's taken very serious, so serious even the tribal Police stay away from it at night.
As the legend goes, Skinwalkers are a malevolent witches capable of transforming into a wolf, coyote, bear, bird, or any other animal. The witch might wear the hide or skin of the animal identity it wants to assume, and when the transformation is complete, the human witch inherits the speed, strength, or cunning of the animal whose shape it has taken. Once shapeshifting has occurred the skinwalker seeks to harm others.
Really quite creepy but during the day this place is very quiet and almost serene. It's really strange how a lot of the graves are marked unknown, the Utes though have been here for hundreds of years and usually marked their plots with stones
