feliz cumpeaños

today, due to various plan changes and confusion ? i ended up walking with some others almost half an hour to find lunch, a lovely stroll despite our hunger. but unfortunately, as we left satisfied by the typical soup, plate of rice, meat, potato, and large glass of juice ? the rain came. and the downpour didn?t let up until we had long since arrived at our destination. soaked to the bone and laughing uncontrollably. my dear new friend paige and i had stopped to get a little ice cream and continued walking a bit behind the other, eating our ice cream as the cone slowly soaked through in the downpour, insisting to all those we passed that we would in fact be okay, and laughing laughing laughing. how wonderful it is to have reached such a point of comfort with someone just one week into this adventure.


as for the photo, we also spent a bit of time in a local bar celebrating one of the volunteer?s birthday today!
