The Olympic Cauldron
It's one year since the Winter Olympics started in Vancouver, so the city has decided to celebrate. Granted it's a bit of an unusual thing to celebrate, but anything to lift the spirits of a city that, like many others, is in a bit of a recession at the moment.
This time last year I sat watching the Winter Olympics thinking "in 6 months we'll be living there". I always wished we could have seen the Olympics at the time, so I guess this one year anniversary celebration is the closest we'll get.
Typically it has been raining all day in Vancouver. A bit of a shame as it has killed the party atmosphere on Granville Street slightly. Didn't stop a great turnout for the lighting the Olympic Cauldron which is going to burn for the rest of the day. You can really feel the heat off of it.
