Humpback whales breaching

This morning we rounded Cabo San Lucas and entered the Gulf of California. We stopped in the vicinity of the Gorda Banks. During breakfast time, a hydrophone was deployed in the water and we enjoyed our breakfast listening to humpback whales singing. I have heard humpback whales songs on a CD, however, it was a thrill to hear them actually performing. A number of humpback whales were observed performing various behaviors, including, breaching which is in this picture, flipper slapping, and tail fluking.
