Anything Green Will Do

Not much greenery is available for moose during these last weeks of winter, so this mom brought her twins into the yard this morning to sample evergreen trees and shrubs.

When I was getting ready for work, my husband told me there were two moose in the yard. I looked out the window to see them eating the tree, and decided I would go out the back door, walk around to the deck, and shoot from a safe distance. I grabbed my camera, and I was checking settings as I quietly snuck out the back door. When I looked up to continue down the walkway toward the deck, I was literally face-to-face with the twins' mother, who loomed large just two feet away from me. I don't know which of us looked more startled!! I turned and bolted back through the door, and she ran in the opposite direction to join her twins in the yard. I must've had a pretty funny look on my face when I got back into the kitchen because my daughter said, "Oh, no, I just saw the mom run down into the yard! Was she outside the back door?" We had a great laugh over the whole event.

Earlier this morning, I shot a beautiful sunrise, but alas, the moose won out. There will be other beautiful sunrises to blip!
