Our five mile world

By hazyheap

Spring has arrived!

Heard the first oystercatcher today as it flew upstream.
These beautiful birds always herald the end of winter and the arrival of new growth.
They arrive with the snowdrops.

Oystercatchers are striking, black and white wading birds with long bright red bills. Their bill is used to break into shellfish and despite the name, oystercatchers are not known to eat oysters and in fact favour mussels.

Bill is cooking a special St Valentine's supper so I must go!
