Drummond Scrolls

Why Drummond? I don't know, but I have found quite a history behind these elegantly carved roses, (representing England), too much to include here. The scrolls are currently located on a house in Redford Road but the pair were originally set either side of the pediment over the entrance to the first Royal Infirmary, designed by William Adam and built in 1738 in Infirmary Street. In 1884 that building was demolished and the owner of Redford House (just visible to the rear), R.A.Macfie of Dreghorn, bought the ornamental stonework and installed these on his stables, now modernised as a dwelling. The left-hand scroll is of a different design and I hope to blip it later.
