Tree Surgeon at Work
I've been on at the council for years to stop neglecting the trees in our street. London Planes, huge when left to themselves, I mean HUGE and GIGANTIC all rolled into one. So when the streets were planted early in the last century, the plan was to cut them annually so as to keep them a sensible size for a small residential street. Then tree hugging arrived, well, you can't be kind to a tree that has been planted in the wrong place and has to be kept small against its will. But they stopped the annual pollard. Now they are giant monsters with crazy leaves that block the drains, roots that puncture cellar walls and water mains and raise front garden paving, to the extent that gates have to have the bottoms removed.
Today, at last, originally due last November, the men with ropes and chain saws came. We'll have a little light in the front garden this year. ;)
P.S. This was taken from an upstairs window, the trees are very tall.
