Snapshooter's Diary

Vernissage

Today I went to a vernissage - not my own, obviously, it is still light years away.

The Finnish Museum of Photography opened a new exhibition, by Swedish photographer Beata Fransson.

She has photographed the windows of Milanese fashion shops at night, seeing them as theater stages or movie screens, objects in footlights.

I like the idea. I have occasionally tried to shoot a serie which I call "Window Shopping" - the shop windows, setups, dummies, reflections, all that stuff.

Fransson's pictures are not hanging on the gallery wall, but printed as luxury shopping bags. Not the most conventional way to present photographic art, but there's something very Warhol-like, I think.

Not sure if I still like that idea.
