True Grit in China Town
My wee Sci-Fi Film Club broke genre ranks again and saw True Grit at the Curzon Soho. I was mightily impressed with the young lady who plays the main role. The script was so slick - fabulous. There was many a giggle. Mike and Simon had seen the original film with John Wayne, but Fred, Lindz and I were completely ignorant of it. I must look it up. The consensus was that the Coen Brothers' film is a lot darker, but better for it.
We don't have another film on the list to see until April (2001: A Space Odyssey with a live orchestra at the Royal Festival Hall - we can't wait!) However, I'm sure there must be a sci-fi film out in March. Or we may have to break genre ranks yet again. I fancy seeing Black Swan and Never Let Me Go. The latter could be sci-fi...
Afterwards, we headed to China Town nearby for lots of food. The streets are still hung with colourful lanterns from the Chinese New Year celebrations. There are so many restaurants to choose from that it's really hard to make a decision. In the end, Mike led us to one that took his fancy and we had a feast. Dim Sum Yum.
