Nutrition and hydration

Had a coffee as I was early for an appointment.
It meant I had a flick through the paper and was well and truly saddened by what I read.

*Political statement alert*
The basic needs of elderly people are NOT being met by members of my own profession. The report quoted in the Times was just sad. I can honestly say I have seen this, too. It's not the nurses fault (no blame culture blah blah) but it is a sad indictment of a lack of funding for the nhs and a growing elderly population with year on year staff drugs and living costs. All in all, we are buggered.
We have known for at least 30 years that the nhs is underfunded but no political party did anything about it.

So now we have elderly people with no access to nutrition or hydration when they are in hospital to be healed.
