RAF Edzell

I had a really interesting day at work today. I had the unique experience of being able to visit an old RAF base to carry out a Phase 1 Habitat Survey. RAF Edzell, in Aberdeenshire. A squadron of Spitfire were based here during WW2. The base was later used by the Americans during the cold war. It was really interesting wandering round the old building. These are some of the 1940 pre-fabricated barracks. I was even able to fulfill a boyhood dream of driving down a deserted runway. All be it in a hired Vauxhall Astra 1.4, and not the super car I had imagined.
