Fresh Eggs

A couple of year ago we rescued three hens Foxy Loxy, Henny Penny, and Chicken Licken (no it wasn't me who named them!) from the 'Battery Hen Welfare Trust'. After establishing a pecking order they started to really enjoyed the freedom of our garden and becoming the family pets . After a couple of weeks of settling in they started regularly providing us with a dozen eggs a week - slightly more than we easily consuming. Unfortunately we lost Henny Penny to natural causes last summer.

Both Foxy Loxy and Chicken Licken have continued to regularly lay us an egg a day between them which meets our needs perfectly. Two weeks ago they decided to have a little rest and insisted we buy a few eggs from the shop - the first I can remember us buying for a long time. When I was shutting them up tonight I discovered an egg - I can't remember the last time I got excited about collecting an egg; I therefore decided this would be my blip for the day. I took the egg to the kitchen and placed it in the basket the children use when checking for eggs; I was just about to take my shot when my wife came in and said "the chickens laid an egg yesterday! - it's in the fridge". I have therefore included both eggs in the blip and am pleased to say both hens are back off holiday!
