BEACON
This should really have been yesterday's blip.
On 16th February 1957 Baron Leslie Hore-Belisha died. I don't except I have to tell you that it was he who came up with a highway code and driving tests. But he also gave his name to Belisha Beacons.
I had wondered at their strange name, though I suppose it would have been even stranger had they been called Hore-Belishas; though handy as a crossing point for ladies of the night.
Thank you for your kind thoughts yesterday. It has eased a bit today, though I now have a rather red and burnt cheek from clutching a hotwater bottle to my face all night. Transference of pain!
