fireworks

Tonight is the Lantern Festival, and the last (15th) night of the Chinese New Year. This means that there are no-holds-barred on fireworks and firecrackers in the city (and believe me, it ain't exactly been quiet for the last two weeks) and we are in a disadvantaged- depending on how you look at it- position. Our flat looks towards the north east Fourth Ring Road, but also over the feeder road to our compound, which is the location of choice for said bangers (God help you if you are in your car just trying to get home). This year we thought we'd just join in, so set off our 15-quid fireworks a little further away, and very good they were too. We probably contributed to about one-fiftieth of the fireworks in view tonight.

Photo is of our road outside with the remnants of the firecrackers which were presumably set off whilst I was in town drinking the wine which I hope will help me sleep through the rest of them...
