Cartoon Cycling

In the below freezing conditions and on roads badly affected by black ice I was tentatively freewheeling down the hill, my lights bouncing of the particles of moisture in the fog. As i reached the bottom of the hill I started pedaling again and yes, yet again I had misjudged my gears and at the bottom of the hill found my legs spinning furiously and with a click-click of my gear levers I started spinning again. Gradually though I was slowing to a halt, at least the bike was, my legs were still going. Hmmm.... I stopped and jumped off and had a look. Everything seemed fine, but when I pedaled nothing happened? Nothing for it as my time was fast disappearing, but to push the bike back to the house and walk to the nearest bus stop - a 30 minute walk. Some research when I got to work suggests that my freewheel is perhaps broken? I've heard of it but in 25 years of regular cycling I've never had a problem with this.

Off to the Bicycle Works tomorrow for 8am........
