JCB, Old Locomotive Works, Inverurie

I already had this photo ready to post here this evening when I noticed that Merely a Blip had put up a photo of JCB's World Parts Centre earlier this evening...

Anyway - this is the site of the former Great North of Scotland Railway Locomotive Works in Inverurie, Aberdeenshire, which has been 'undergoing redevelopment' for several years now, with little sign of any tangible progress. Perhaps the arrival of this heavy equipment on site is a portent of some more significant progress on the way...

Note the 'sawtooth' roof pattern of the remaining locomotive works building in the background. As a child, factories of this design were icons of the 'industrial age' in which we then lived. They are an altogether rarer sight nowadays.
