Michelin Man

To London Village today for lunch at a certain Scottish chef's eponymous three Michelin star restaurant - Gordon Ramsay at Royal Hospital Road. Mrs DP's treat - my birthday present from December. Food heaven!

Sublime from the moment we arrived at 12.15. All the staff (15 waiters) swooned over us, making you feel very special - they probably knew we were lowly civil servants but that didn't matter. We both had three courses, plus an array of bonus tasters, including a strawberry sorbet complete with a silver candle as a belated birthday celebration. The Maitre D', Jean Claude Breton, was a master class in schmoozing and chatting, gleefully describing each dish as they arrived like they were works of art. He even sang Happy Birthday in very hushed tones!

For me:

Yellow fin tuna and roasted cep tartar with caviar, basil purée, spring onions, cep vinaigrette

Pork three ways, sautéed, confit cheeks, traditional black pudding, with artichokes, mushrooms, spinach and Madeira sauce

... and a chocolate and lavendar tart for pud!

We were there for nearly three hours and were sad to leave at the end. What an experience. As a bonus at the end we were given a quick tour of the kitchens, watching the 18 chefs at work creating their masterpieces.

Genius.

Edit: back to reality - looking like beans on toast for tea! haha
