It does seem as though we are going through some odd baby boom in the city. Strollers are everywhere and the affluent always seem to have the double- and triple-riders, likely resulting from fertility treatments. I, for one, am opting out of parenting. I can barely manage my own life, let alone be responsible for someone else's. At 38, I think I waited too long anyway. It's like that stupid postcard from the 1980s that featured a career-frazzled woman on the front with an open briefcase, papers flying, tossed hair, and a bubble quote that read: "Opps, I forgot to have kids."
