Heart Shaped Woods

I've passed these woods many times on my way to and from the North on the M6 (between J37 and 38). I heard today (yes only today) that it is the work of the widow of a fighter pilot whose plane came down at this spot. She planted trees in a heart shape to mark their eternal love.

Another story is that two young lovers from adjoining farms met there in secret after their families forbode them to see each other. The couple took their lives there and the heart shaped woods is a mark of their love from their families.

A further story indicates that it used to be called Broken Gill Plantation, far less romantic so we'll leave it there...
