Slivers of Silver
Busy day, and I've skipped an LNEC blip by a whisker.
While I wholeheartedly agree with the proverb A good name is more desirable than great riches; to be esteemed is better than silver or gold,* I do love these pieces.
In one way, they are inexpensive tat. In another they are simple shiny memories of the wonderful Isle of Lewis where I found them.
Did you know, incidentally, that the chemical symbol for silver is Ag, derived from the Latin Argentum which in turn has its root in the Indo-European arg- for 'grey' or 'shining'. This lot needs a good clean, I noticed as I took it off, so it's probably more grey than shining.
