St Kentigern's Episcopal Church - all seats free
I went to Glasgow this afternoon, and on my way to Haymarket I passed this sign, partly obscured by a gate, in a vennel on Viewforth.
The church itself was built in 1897 by John More Dick Peddie, architect of the Caledonian Hilton. It ceased to be a church in 1941 and has subsequently been used as a nursery and a garage.
I know there were plans a few years back to demolish it to make way for a 'luxury development', plans that were opposed by the Cockburn Association and the local community.
Unfortunately I had a train to catch and didn't have time to take a closer look. Does anyone know anything about this church? Is it still standing?
