The air temperature was up in the 60's and the water was below 40. there is still ice on parts of the lake.

I felt lucky to get out for a paddle in February. last week the lake was frozen over and paddling was impossible.

The wetsuit and life vest are warranted on the extremely odd chance of my flipping into the cold water where hypothermia would prove to be dangerous if unprotected.
