Quilter Extraordinaire!

Here are Nine and Didier, our hosts this week in Rennes.

It's 7:07 in the morning, just before Didier drove us to the train (I left it to the last morning to stretch out the blips in Rennes).

Nine is amazingly creative  at all kinds of handwork: quilting, embroidery, knitting, crocheting, and more.  Here you see just two examples of her work--a quilted wall hanging, and a piece that's a free adaptation of an aerial photograph by Yann Arthus-Bertrand, a master of photographs of the earth.

The ambient light is predictably dismal for any sort of accurate colors, but I didn't have my flash along--I hope this still conveys some sense of the vividness of Nine's creations.  We have known them both for two decades, and have shared with them many wonderful adventures both in France and the United States.
