Salt Works

Salt has been extracted in this part of Cheshire for 2000 years since the Romans were here. One method used is brine pumping and the old pumps and well heads can still be seen today.

Hailing from a place called Saltcoats I feel that I have salt in my veins. In Saltcoats the salt was extracted from seawater in large saltpans.

This blackbird was still deriving benefit from the Christmas pudding!
