Home Sweet Home?
Our walk today started and ended at Plumley, and took in the interesting and attractive Holford Hall.
But it was also a walk that showed us the relics of the Cheshire brine-pumping industry (Bald Eagle has an image of this and a little more information), as well as the site of a Second World War aircraft fuel facility (known locally as 'The Jam Plant' to divert suspicion and fox the Fifth Columnists). We also passed a wood which apparently hid the remains of a First World War munitions factory and the site of a previous ICI lime works, now a SSI.
Along the way we passed the current brine-pumping facility, which had these pipes laid neatly ready for use. This was an attempt to take an image that would allow a bit more 'colour-select' practise in PS. Only when I looked at it on the laptop did I notice the development of a domestic dwelling!
