Nest Box

It's National Nest Box Week so with the weather grey, windy & rainy, it was back into the workshop for me today ... after doing some other work, I knocked up an open fronted nest box to the BTO design using some offcuts. I've got a few nestboxes in the garden and last year we had 5 in use - 2 by blue tits, 1 by house sparrows and 2 by tree sparrows. All of these guys use ones with holes in the front as opposed to the open fronted ones which blackbirds, robins and wagtails use - although nothing has ever used the open fronter I put up - maybe this year?
