Creel
A wild and windy day, the sea was breaking over the boat slip. There is a pile of creels at the top of the slip, used for catching lobsters and crabs. A lot of folk have a few creels which they set, mostly as a hobby. Orcadians are known as farmers who fish, whereas Shetlanders are known as fishermen who farm!
After all the recent gales there are quite a few creels that have broken free from their ropes and have ended up on the beach around the bay. When Ollie and I were out today there must have been about half a dozen along the shore! Each creel has a lump of concrete in it to weight it down and keep it on the sea bed, so they are far to heavy to lug up the beach. We just left them where they were!
