Guess the direction of the prevailing wind

Went for a foray onto the South Downs today. It was relatively calm (although still mizzling) but this tree has been battered by the wind over the years. Before you get up here (the Devil's Dyke) and can get into some decent walking territory, the path from Hove takes you through an estate where there is a fondness for fly-tipping and a reluctance to clean up after dogs. We stuck with it and found the walk to be nice and rewarding.

Answer to the question: Wind blows from coast to the left and the tree is desperately trying to lean towards the pub at the bottom of the valley on the right, where they do good chips.
