Good as New
We spent most of today looking at new computers in PC world and the apple store. Mathew's Macbook Air has been poorly for aaaaaages. Just won't do anything, constantly crashing etc. New ones are damn expensive, but he needs something to organise his diary & accounts etc.
Brainwave: Try reformatting.
It's a hassle, because the Macbook Air doesn't have a disc drive of any sort. We had to figure out how to put the re-formatting disc into my comp (the easy bit) and then for his comp to read MY drive (the not so easy bit). Actually, it was a hassle and it was fidgety, but being honest it was a lot easier than I expected.
Before long, we had it all sorted, and Mathew's comp's as good as new. It's like... a new laptop without the 1000 price-tag :-D
Only problem is we're now dealing with installing updates and restoring backed up files!
