This Was An Experience

After breakfast, I asked Grandpa if he wanted to do anything else, if he had any errands to run, if he had any tricks up his sleeve. He said, "Well, I have two things I would like to do. Go to the bank, and go get a haircut." I was game but didn't know the way, so I called my local Map Lady (cousin Haylee) and she gave me helpful directions. Grandpa and I were off! We traveled to the bank, went through the drive-thru, got his fun money for the week, then headed off to this barber that he has so raved about. It was a pretty cool joint, I will admit. Four barbers right in a row, two of 'em old guys. One was called Red, the other was.... um.... let's say New York Guy. I didn't catch his name, now that I think about it, and he was the one who cut Grandpa's hair. Darn. Well, in any event, it was a great fun time. These guys were funny, and they just joked and teased and gave the poor mail lady heck when she came in. Oh boy. It was like zooming back in time for 30 minutes. Exceptionally entertaining, and Grandpa got the cut that he requested. He was extremely happy about that, too. :)

5 Things I'm Thankful For Today

1) The grandpa. He is so much fun, he brings me so much joy, and he has been happier and happier each time I've seen him here. Talk about Grandpa knowing best.
2) Adventure: finding SG Cemetery, seeing old barns falling down, collecting visual snapshots, following Bliss Road just because I'm pretty sure I know where it leads. It didn't lead me wrong. :)
3) A phone call alerting me to the fact that my daughter is No. 1 in her class!! I am so proud!!!! :)
4) Staying up late with my best friend, who was a thousand miles away but it felt like we were hanging out together. :)
5) Sharing a can of soup with the grandpa for supper. Mmmm. Good times.
