I was driving home just before midnight last night, thinking of that bank hold-up scenario where you can judge people's character by the opinion they give:
The scenario is that a customer is waiting in a bank-queue when some armed robbers come in. In the ensuing hold-up, the customer gets shot. The bullet enters and exits his arm, and no long-term damage is done.
The question asked is "do you think the customer was unlucky or lucky"
Some people say he was unlucky for being involved in a hold-up, and others would say he's lucky because he was shot, but wasn't killed.
Apparently, psychologists can tell loads from that.
The reason I even mentioned this was because having thought about it on my journey home. I parked outside my house and unloded my stuff. I had forgotten to zip up my camera bag, and my precious camera flew out and clattered along the road. This was the most expensive of the three cameras that were in the bag - and my heart almost stopped.
The camera is, however, made of weapons-grade materials, and although there are a couple of scratches on the metal, there seems to be no damage at all to the operation.
Add to that, the fact that there were my two favourite lenses in the bag which didn't fall out.
So the question is: was I lucky that I didn't damage the camera, or was I unlucky in the first place because it fell into the road?
My answer is that I was a total, total, ignorant, bloody stupid pratt for not zipping up the bag in the first place.
At this point, psychologists start to despair..
You maybe wondering why I haven't blipped the damaged camera, but the damage is so slight it wasn't worth doing. Therefore I have shown you what Parrs Wood was like this morning at 8 o'clock
