Do not know the name of this flower.

Another day of rain but this wee beauty brightened up a dull grey corner of the Chinese gardens today.

Yes the earth moved for me today and many others. Quite a shock for us further down the island but poor old Christchurch just could not stand up to the assault and, as you will be reading and hearing, the beautiful CBD is a crumbled mess and the loss of life is still being counted. A dark day in NZ history.

The difference this time was the quake was much closer to the surface - only 5 km down - and closer to the city (10km) as opposed to September's shake which was 33km down and 30 km north of the city. Also many of the buildings that have fallen today were weakened in the last quake. The time of day also adds to the toll of human life and endeavour

Stay safe out there and take care of yourselves and family and friends for tomorrow may deal you a blow you could never imagine having to cope with. Thoughts with all those souls who moved on today and with their loved ones.
