The Void Awaits

I took a party of pupils to a local climbing wall. They were all keen to do the aerial assault course, the kind of thing that terrifies me far more than scaling a cliff face. Perched 30m up, you scramble over suspended logs, rope ladders and the like. The worst thing is the start, where you launch out from a platform and fly into space, suspended by ropes connected to rollers on an overhead runway. The noise of the rollers and the screams of the participants gives me the heebie jeebies! In this picture, a previously enthusiastic pupil has just wiped away the tears and is steeling herself. The instructor offers a few words of encouragement.
