How to Speak Dragonese

He has nice lashes large.

Two days into half term and it's still raining. It didn't stop us venturing out for a while though and it didn't stop H from a (rather soggy) half-hour trampoline session while I squeezed in some work. I breed them tough.

H has spent the holiday so far learning to speak Dragonese. From the extracts he's read out it really is a very funny book. It's about a little Viking called Hiccup Horrendous Haddock III who is far too weak, weedy and refined (he speaks Latin and French) to be a Viking. He's a terrible Viking and gets himself into all manner of scrapes. He's just been kidnapped by Romans apparently. Hiccup has a best friend called Fishlegs, who is almost as feeble as he is and he is obsessed with dragons. He spends hours studying them and has compiled his very own notebook about them, pages of which intersperse the story. It is the notebook which is a particular source of mirth for H.

He particularly likes the fact that dragons call a dog a Dimwoof. Archie (and this will come as no surprise to anyone who has ever met him) is now dubbed Dimwoof!

His favourite Dragonese phrase so far has to be NA EATY DI BUM-SUPPORT, NA EATY DI SLEEPY-SLAB, PLUS DOUBLY DOUBLY NA EATY DI MIAOWLA! Which translated means 'DON'T EAT THE CHAIR, DON'T EAT THE BED AND DEFINITELY DON'T EAT THE CAT.'

Thinking of all my Blip friends in New Zealand, and particularly Christchurch today. Hope you're all ok.
