Tip

I don't own a dishwasher. While many times I'd like to just load dishes and such into a machine, turn it on and walk away, I don't have that option.

Every time, then, that I have to wash knives, I recall an occasion many, many years ago in which my father cut the skin between his thumb and index finger when the blade slipped from the wash cloth he was using.

And I turn the knife blade so that the sharp edge faces away from my hand.
