Lookout
This is an interior view of what seems to be a World War II lookout point high on a hill above Aberystwyth. This morning, while walking the dogs, a neighbour had told me about the remains of Cold War nuclear bunker that apparently exist by the golf course (good place for a bunker). So at lunchtime I went to see if I could find it. I thought I had the spot and spent about 15 mins pushing my way through blackthorn before I realised I was actually on a large badger sett in a hedgebank!
A couple of elderly golfers asked me if I was lost - then looked at me as if I was mad when I said I was looking for a nuclear bunker. Anyway, having looked around a bit more, I think I know where it is, but will have to go back another time.
But on the way home I stopped to investigate an old brick building on a hill with a trig point at its summit and with a superb 360 degree view. As I say, the building looks like it was some kind of lookout point, almost certainly from WWII, with a mounting that possibly held binoculars or a telescope.
